Search the Catalog

Access and Explore Data

To begin exploring data, try these steps:

1. Click Data Access on the landing page.

2. Or, you can also begin exploring by clicking on Access Array Data in the upper toolbar.

3. Selected a global array and one or more filters. Press the Go button to see results.

4. You may also press Go to navigate to the main map and data catalog.

Navigate the Catalog

The data catalog is built around a familiar search interface, with several important elements arranged around the screen. You can navigate the catalog to explore datasets as follows:

Browse by Instrument Category

1. Browse datasets by category (array, platform, node, glider, instrument, or parameter) using the tabs in the upper left.

1. Or, click on the category name to view a list of associated instruments. Click on the results in the left hand column to view available datasets. Datasets are organized in a gridded view of time series charts. For more information about OOI instruments visit https://oceanobservatories.org/instruments/ .

Advanced Search Filters

You can use the Advanced Search options in the center toolbar to apply custom filters to all datasets as follows:

1. Select the parameter or instrument of interest using the drop down menu.

2. Click the search button to sort by keyword.

3. Select the time button to filter data temporally. See Time Sliders section for more information.

4. Sort results by minimum or maximum depth intervals.

5. Click the reset filter button in the left hand corner to remove filters applied to the datasets.

6. Below the Advanced Search toolbar click on the Inventory, Download, Annotations, Deployment, and More Information tabs to find detailed information about datasets. This information is available for groups of datasets at the Platforms, Nodes, Instruments, and Parameters level. For more information see the Data Charts section.

7. To interact with individual datasets, click on the parameter name to expand the data chart. For more information see the Data Charts section.

Advanced: All data in a searchable interface

You can custom filter all datasets together across the OOI enterprise following these steps:

1. Click the Search category in the upper left. Here you can use an Advanced Search toolbar to apply custom filters to the datasets.

2. Or, you can also shortcut to the Advanced Search toolbar to filter all OOI datasets by clicking on Advanced: All data in searchable interface under Access and Explore Data.
